Lyrics
Verse 1
When one first hears God’s Holy Word, He marvels over what he’s found. But if like seed on rocky soil, He has no roots to stand through toils, When fiery trials burn like a torch, The little plant is quickly scorched.
Verse 2
When all around are worldly thorns, It’s hard for little seeds to thrive. While evil foes are all about, The plant is overwhelmed with doubt. When spurred by Satan’s dark command, The thorns press close and choke the plant.
Verse 3
But seed that’s sown on fertile soil Will grow a firm foundation there. When trials come, faith proves its worth; He spreads the Word to all the earth. Although this Christian started small, He grows to persevere through all.
