Chorus

O, Calvary! dark Calvary! Where Jesus shed His blood for me; (for me;) O, Calvary! blest Calvary! 'Twas there my Savior died for me.

Verse 1

On Calv'ry's brow (On Cal'vry's brow) my Savior died, (my Savior died,) 'Twas there my Lord ('Twas there my Lord) was crucified; (was crucified;) 'Twas on the cross ('Twas on the cross) He bled for me, (He bled for me,) And purchased there (And purchased ther) my pardon free.

Verse 2

Mid rending rocks (Mid rending rocks) and dark'ning skies, (and dark'ning skies,) My Savior bows (My Savior bows) His head and dies; (His head and dies;) The op'ning veil (The op'ning veil) reveals the way (reveals the way) To heaven's joys (To heaven's joys) and endless days.

Verse 3

O, Jesus, Lord, (O, Jesus, Lord,) how can it be, (how can it be,) That Thou shouldst give (That Thou shouldst give) Thy life for me, (Thy life for me,) To bear the cross (To bear the cross) and agony, (and agony,) In that dread hour (In that dread hour) on Calvary.
